Defy Declining Economy: Build Your Managed Security Business with Astaro Command Center

Appliance gives VARs complete remote management capabilities, promotion gives 100% margins

December 10, 2008 (Wilmington, MA) [PR2WEB]—Astaro (www.astaro.com), leading vendor of security appliances, today announced the availability of its newest hardware appliance, Astaro Command Center, which will allow security resellers to break into the expanding managed security market. Up to 100 Astaro Security Gateway user licenses, as well as one year of gold level Astaro Security Gateway support, are currently included for free with the Command Center as part of the Build Your Business promotion, providing resellers with all of the tools to incorporate MSS into their portfolios.

The Astaro Command Center hardware, compatible with all Astaro gateway appliances, software and virtual deployments, includes the same central management capabilities that its free software version features. However, unlike its earlier free version, the hardware appliance is fully supported by Astaro, guaranteeing successful gateway management. In addition, the hardware appliance includes all future upgrades of the Professional version of the Astaro Command Center.

IDC Research states, “The US managed security market will continue to experience double-digit growth rates for the following 5 years due to an increase in security complexity, internal and external pressures, and the increased demand for cost-effective security management solutions.”

Astaro CEO Jan Hichert explains, “When markets are hitting tough economic times, it is important for businesses to stay versatile. Customers are increasingly moving to managed security to save time and money, and security VARs have to keep up with this trend if they want to stay on the map. The Astaro Command Center appliance will allow our partners to evolve with the market and support their customers with managed security services.”

The Astaro Command Center appliance is available in four models, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, which support the management of 20, 50, 100 and 200 gateway appliances, respectively. With the Build Your Business promotion, a one-year Astaro Security Gateway license package with subscriptions for 10, 25, 50 or 100 users, depending on the model purchased, is also included—up to a $6000 value—and can be sold with 100% margins. A year of gold Astaro Security Gateway support is also included with each Command Center purchase.

The Command Center is based on the same architecture and features the same user interface as Astaro Security Gateway, allowing for fast adoption with a low learning curve. Its monitoring functions make it simple to manage several customers’ security installations with custom levels of permission. A unique feature of the appliance is the use of two GUIs: one for the gateway owner and one for the MSSP, allowing the end user to view only his company’s gateway(s), while the service provider has access to all gateways managed by the device, regardless of organization. Updating is also made simpler with Astaro Command Center, which can act as a cache for updates; the Command Center can download each update once and push it out to all managed gateways, avoiding duplicate downloads and saving network resources.
